Osteoporosis is a systemic bone disease characterized by decreased bone mass, increased brittle bones, and fractures. It is a degenerative bone disease in which bone strength decreases and the risk of fracture increases. The early stage often has no specific expression, until the later stage appears fracture is noticed by people. Common clinical manifestations include low back pain, shortened height or humpback deformity, leg cramps or weakness of the lower extremities. Osteoporosis tends to occur in postmenopausal women and older men over the age of 60.
